Sinfonia Cymru’s ‘Masters of Music’ Tour celebrates three world famous masters of musical composition, Mozart, Haydn and Shostakovich.

Sinfonia Cymru welcomes to the stage the exceptional young Welsh cellist Steffan Morris and international cellist and conductor Paul Watkins. Morris performs Haydn’s exuberant First Cello Concerto and Watkins takes up the baton to conduct Sinfonia Cymru for the first time

The programme features an exquisite selection of the composers’ works; Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 in A major, an intimate yet fiery piece, is celebrated as one of the finest symphonies ever composed. The orchestra also perform Shostakovich Chamber Symphony [String Quartet No.8 arr Barshai], giving audiences the chance to listen to Rudolf Barshai’s hugely popular arrangement of Shostakovich’s original Eighth String Quartet. As a finale, Sinfonia Cymru performs Paris Symphony No.87 in A major, one of Haydn’s most cherished and popular works.
