First Wednesday 'Phantasy & Septacular!'

Britten, Britten, Britten! A composer, who truly reflects the outstanding musical talent that Britain has to offer, he wrote this piece whilst studying at the Royal College of Music, aged just 19years old. At a similar age, the young Sinfonia Cymru musicians performing the Phantasy Quartet will explore this piece with the youthful vibrancy & fluidity that suits the young composer’s rationale behind his very own piece of musical ‘fantasia’.

The Septet was one of Beethoven’s most popular and widely circulated works. Renowned as an innovative piece; the scoring individualised each wind instrument (clarinet, horn, and bassoon) in its own right rather than pairing them, while the prominence of the clarinet rivalled that of the violin, which in itself was unusual at the time. Sinfonia Cymru’s musicians will serenade you with this Beethoven gem, featuring a violin cadenza as the finale. So come along, listen, relax, and enjoy our Phantasy and Septacular recital!
